2021 DH World Cup Race Dates

2021 DH World Cup Race Dates
It may be only February but we are already dreaming about World Cup downhill racing… and we can’t wait.

Running from late April through to mid September the 2021 World Cup series sees six rounds and also the all important World Championships in August. It is a series stacked with absolute classic venues: Maribor, Fort William, Leogang, Les Gets, Val di Sole, Lenzerheide and Snowshoe.

It seems a long time ago now, but back in 2019 we saw one of the greatest (if not the greatest) conclusions to a World Cup series that there has ever been – with Loic Bruni and Amaury Pierron pretty much tied on points it all came down to Danny Hart… and we all know what happened then! It was an amazing race. Hopefully this year we’ll be seeing INTENSE Factory Racing’s Aaron Gwin take the win on home soil… no pressure!

The World Cup rounds are quite evenly spaced out this year, with on average 3-4 weeks between each race and no back-to-back races. Once again the World Championships is squeezed in, this time in mid-season in August, and although it won’t affect the downhill racers, there is also the Olympics to think about too.

Due to the ongoing situation with Coronavirus pandemic the planned first round of this year’s World Cup in Maribor (Slovenia) has been moved to a new date in August. This now means that Fort William (Scotland) will now be the opening round of the 2021 World Cup season, but unfortunately no spectators will be allowed. The new dates are as follows:

Round 1 May 22-23 Fort William, Scotland
Round 2 June 12-13 Leogang, Austria
Round 3 July 3-4 Les Gets, France
Round 4 August 14-15 Maribor, Slovenia
World Championships Aug 24-29 Val di Sole, Italy
Round 5 Sept. 4-5 Lenzerheide, Switzerland
Round 6 Sept. 18-19 Snowshoe, WV. USA

And if you really like to plan ahead, then here are the provisional dates for 2022, with Lourdes, Vallnord and Mont-Sainte-Anne all returning to make it an eight round series.

Round 1 March 26-27 Lourdes, France
Round 2 May 21-22 Fort William, UK
Round 3 June 10-12 Leogang, Austria
Round 4 July 8-10 TBC
Round 5 July 15-17 Vallnord, Andorra
Round 6 July 29-31 Snowshoe, USA
Round 7 August 5-7 Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada
World Championships August 24–28 Les Gets, France
Round 8 September 2-4: Val di Sole, Italy
